The Beekman

Meet The Beekman, one of Manhattan’s first skyscrapers and an early example of using brick and terra cotta for an office building. Built-in 1883, it is located in the iconic area of Manhattan’s downtown and is known as one of New York’s last hidden architectural treasures. The core element of this magnificent landmark building is its awe-inspiring nine-story Victorian atrium and its one-of-a-kind pyramidal skylight. The building was restored to bring back its elegant grandness and converted into The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel. The Hotel is now listed as one of the best new hotels in the world and has won numerous awards.

The restoration of the building was led by Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel, Architects. The window replacement consultant for this building was Israel Berger + Associates. and the owner of the project was GFI Capital.

The restoration team took extra care to preserve and restore the beautiful central atrium and grand skylight, its historic cast-iron balustrades, period wood arched doors and windows. Our expert engineers at CAOBA worked tirelessly to match the historical profile windows to ensure that the building's original charm was maintained. We're proud to have been a part of this project and contributed to restoring such a magnificent piece of history.
