Meet The Beekman, one of Manhattan’s first skyscrapers and an early example of the use of brick and terra cotta for an office building. Built in 1883, it is located in the iconic area of Manhattan’s downtown and it is known as one of New York’s last hidden architectural treasures. The core element of this magnificent landmark building is its awe-inspiring nine-story Victorian atrium and its one of a kind pyramidal skylight. The building was restored to bring back its elegant grandness and converted into The Beekman, a Thompson Hotel. The Hotel is now listed as one of the best new hotels in the world.
The restoration of the building was lead by Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel, Architects. The window replacement consultant for this building was Israel Berger + Associates. and the owner of the project was GFI Capital.
